Conductive compliant mechanisms: Geometric tuning of 3D printed flexural sensors

نویسندگان

چکیده

Additive manufacturing of thermoplastic conductive polymer composites offers interesting opportunities for customizing compliant flexural sensors. The study aimed to show that additive could be used fabricate sensors evaluating the effect sensor geometry on output. Prior literature has primarily focused material optimization rather than geometrical design. results this paper signal amplitude between geometrically different with same footprint can increase ∼28 times. In addition, bending force is found proportional amplitude. Thus, concentrating a small section increases but also relaxation broadening hysteresis loop. This highlights importance considering design when fine-tuning manufactured future work, it paramount improve reproducibility, linearity, and investigate effects other parameters.

Flexible Touch Sensors Made of Two Layers of Printed Conductive Flexible Adhesives

Touch sensors are crucial in controlling robotic manipulation when a robot interacts with environmental objects. In this study, multilayer flexible touch sensors in the form of an array were developed. The sensors use ink-type conductive flexible adhesives as electrodes which were printed on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) films in a parallel equidistance stripe pattern. Between the two printe...

Sintering Mechanisms and Mechanical Properties of 3D Printed Metals

Nickel and iron based alloys are widely used as raw materials in 3D printing or additive manufacturing process. In direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) process, a primary 3D printing technique for metals, metallic powders are sintered to a desired shape by heat energy from a laser beam. This study presents a molecular dynamics study to simulate the sintering process and resultant mechanical prop...

High Strain and Biocompatible Screen Printed Nanocomposite Based Conductive Pdms Strain Sensors

Strain sensors capable of operating in high strain conditions remain a technical challenge. In particular, biocompatible strain sensor technology is needed that satisfies the following requirements: (1) construction from low modulus materials that approach values of soft biological tissues and (2) high strain operation (≥ 20%). We present a screen printed, nanocomposite-based conductive polydim...

Large-area compliant tactile sensors using printed carbon nanotube active-matrix backplanes.

A 20 × 20 pixel pressure sensor array based on a printed active-matrix single-wall carbon-nanotube thin-film transistor backplane is presented. Using a gravure printing process that is compatible with fully printed large-area roll-to-roll processing, a 97% device yield is obtained on the 400-transistor backplane. As a proof of concept, pressure sensors are integrated to map the applied tactile ...
